Samuel took his family to live in Kings Rd. Brighton, then in 1841 he came into debt and either emigrated or was deported to the USA, later bringing his family over on 28/11/1848 (New Orleans Passenger Lists, 1820-1945). By 1850, the whole family was living in New Orleans Municipality 2 Ward 4, Orleans, Louisiana, USA (US Census, 1850). Previous to leaving he was in a debtors prison at Horsham, Sussex, England. He took an Aunt Eliza and several (12?) cousins with him to the USA.

..."Mr. Hyatt, surgeon, saw the body on Sunday, and deposed to the same effect as the medical men on the inquest: there was an infant in the womb. The prisoner, being called on for her defence, declared she was innocent of every circumstance connected with the murder. She was remanded to Lewes Jail until the following Monday, when she will undergo a further examination"..

NOTICE is hereby given, that by an indenture of assignment, bearing date the 24th day of February 1841, Samuel Hyatt, of Brighton, in the county of Sussex, Surgeon, hath conveyed and assigned all his estate and effects whatsoever to William Alger, of Brighton aforesaid, Draper, and William Blaber, of the same town, Coal Merchant, in trust, for the benefit of all the creditors of him the said Samuel Hyatt who should execute the same deed within the space of two calender months from the date thereof; and that the said indenture was duly executed by the said Samuel Hyatt on the said 24th day of February, in the presence of, and is attested by, George Dempster, of No. 51, Ship-street, Brighton aforesaid, Attorney at Law, and by Charles Preston, his Clerk ; and that the said deed was likewise executed by the said William Alger and .William Blaber on the 26th day of February aforesaid, in the presence of, and is attested by, the said George Dempster. THE creditors of Samuel Hyatt, late of Saint George's place, Brighton, Sussex, Surgeon, are informed, that a Dividend of nine pence halfpenny in the pound may be received, by applying to Mr. W. Blaber, of Brighton, Coal Merchant, one of the Assignees, on or after the 15th instant. Bills and securities to be produced. The London Gazette Issue 20351 published on the 7 June 1844.

Samuel Hyatt, formerly of No. 16, Upper Thornhaugh-Street, Bed ford-Square, afterwards of No. 10, Store Street, Bedford Square, both in Middlesex, then of No. 11, Brunswick Place North, then of No. 4, of the same place, then of No. 100, London-Road, and late of No. 97, London-Road aforesaid, all in Brighton, Sussex, Surgeon.
