In the 1851 Census Samuel is living in Heston, Hounslow, Middlesex, single aged 20.
He is the single head of house looking after his sisters Mary Jane aged 14 years and Emily aged 12 years.
Also noted was a visitor, Mary Newbury, aged 53 years, a school mistress, who is likely to be Maria, Samuel's mother.
