Quoted from notes by Nicole Vigouroux re 1960's:
...[I had been invited by them for a week end as I was spending holidays at their daughter's, Patricia Meakin. John was a very handsome man, a real gentleman too, very well educated and so good to me. I remember him explaining to me the rules of cricket with extreme patience, while he was knitting!! ( that was one of his hobbies).
His wife "aunt" Eileen (who was my grand father's cousin as I told you) was herself a lady with extreme generosity too. she was very well educated, speaking the english of the "Queen"]...
